The Extreme Ice Center Hockey Department is pleased to announce its partnership with Tactical Advantage Hockey for the 2019-2020 Rush Travel Season. T.A.H will be overseeing all off-ice programming for XIC’s Travel programs in the new shooting station as well as the gym upstairs. We are excited to introduce John Turner as our hockey skill and development coach and Allie Lawhon as our strength and conditioning coach.

Meet your Off-Ice Coaches for the 2019-2020 Season:

John Turner: Coach Turner is a USA Hockey level 4 certified coach and has completed age-specific modules for all youth hockey ages. His coaching experience includes head coach and director of skill development for the Charlotte Rush junior hockey program, as well as other youth programs in the area. Coach Turner has been an instructor at numerous hockey camps including Huron, Sports International Hockey Schools, Pro Ambitions, Laura Stamm Powerskating, in addition to his own hockey camps.

Allie Lawhon: Allie was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and was a competitive figure skater for 8 years here at the Extreme Ice Center. Allie is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has been training athletes individually and in group settings for years. She has had experience working at several gyms in the area, training independently and online to help her clients reach their goals.

What to expect:

Shooting Room- Coach Turner will be focusing on the development of stick skills including shooting, stickhandling and passing through the use of technique and fine motor skill-based drills. Players will receive weekly instruction throughout the entire season.

Upstairs Gym- Coach Allie will be providing instruction to each team, once per week, to enhance players’ off-ice training, that will translate to their on-ice performance. She will be focusing on enhancing techniques like strength, agility, and functional mobility that will be customized to meet the needs of each age and skill level.
